Vinyl Pre-order!

Vinyl pre-order for Archfiend is up and running, and we expect to ship copies in about six weeks.

Our first pressing is a limited edition 12” 140-160 gram clear vinyl with full color printed inner sleeve (including full lyrics) bundle with download card, pin, stickers, etc. (while supplies last).

Pre-order is available HERE (sorry, we don’t have any images yet, other than the one above which is on the inner sleeve - but trust us, it looks amazing). We’ll share pictures as soon as we have them!

Like many independent bands out there, and especially now without the administrative support and financial help of a label, we depend on you all to continue making music at a level in which we want to produce it at (while not amassing a significant amount of debt in the process, and without using crowd sourcing or kickstarter methods of financing). We sincerely appreciate everyone who contributes in some way to our artistic endeavors whether it’s from purchasing our record, coming to our shows, sharing our music, or talking us up with other people… from the bottom of our collective hearts - THANK YOU for your continued support! Archfiend took a little bit longer to see the light of day (we finished mastering in early 2012; tracking in late 2011), but we really wanted to be able to do it on our own terms and without asking for financial support. We’d never put a record out on our own before, and to do it right on top of having the general commitments of our lives, took us a little bit longer than we expected. In any event, it’s out, and we hope you enjoy it!

Together Announces Another World's Fair Line Up

Together just announced their full lineup of artists playing 2013 Another World’s Fair this Saturday, May 18 in University Park in Central Square, and we’re thrilled to be headlining the main stage!

The outdoor event is free and open to the public, featuring the The Middle East & Zuzu Beer Oasis and Grill – presented by Heineken, art installations, food trucks and more.

We’re playing the main stage at “World’s Fair in Central Sq” this Saturday May 18th at around 5pm.

Another World’s Fair is a giant block party with music of every kind, tons of food, art, dance performances, and stimulation everywhere. Not coincidentally, it’s the same weekend as Central Square Open Studios, so there’ll be plenty to see.

Together is working closely with Central Square Business Association in planning the thing, so you can bet there will be plenty to dance to as well.

“Vocally, Korkidis sounds like Paul Weller on “Gold Cures,” “Writhe” and especially the excellent “Glass Damsels,” and he can work a song pretty well with those flexible pipes. I can understand why this band has received some glowing reviews from My Old Kentucky Blog, Alternative Press and All Music Guide. More than a quirky, conceptual curiosity, this one’s a creeped-out winner.”

Bostonnova on Eksi Ekso, School Tree

“Eksi Ekso and Schooltree are two of the most unique bands in the Boston area right now. More uniqueness, more problems.”

The following piece in Bostonnova ran on us and our new record and brought up some overview regarding the current Boston Music “Scene” and where we and Schooltree fit into the mix - if at all. This is more for the folks within the scene here so for the rest of you - SORRY.

It’s hard to really have any solid position on the local scene as amorphous at worst and supportive at best that it can be, but we, as a band, have tried to exist both on our own and on a more non-local platform since our inception - for better or for worse. Sometimes we feel that we’ve garnered a bit more collective support and love out of town than in town, and that may be a result of certain factions of the scene being closed off and set up to support the more accessible “power pop” that’s been predominant in Boston since the days of Buffalo Tom and The Lemonheads (two bands we love, by the way).

The other side of it is that Boston is a very small city, and there aren’t a lot of outlets or “taste makers.” The ones who have a foothold seem to have their favorites and keep a group of friends that they support - as they should! Sure we feel an allegiance to some great bands, but “friend rock” as Sufjan called it, is not something our careers allow us to the time to fully support when we try and use a good amount of our free time writing and rehearsing. Either way, we live here, it’s an interesting place and an interesting question.

The friendly folks over at Allston Pudding premiered (the “exclusive,” folks) “The Ragtag Brigade” and had the following to say:

“The tune sheds a bit of their electronic sheen, but maintains true pop sensibility, and lets the lead vocals of Tom Korkidis soulfully punch through. There’s a different artistic element to this band that has progressively become more evident in their recordings, and based on this tune and “Gold Cures,” this album is shaping up to be their best yet.”

Three radio shows in three nights, folks. We’re having a blast working out the new stuff hard with our NEW live rig before we head out for a few shows next week. Tonight we have the pleasure of performing live in “Studio Dee” at WMFO (TUFTS) 91.5 around 10pm EST.

About Mikey Dee (1962-2003)

Mikey Dee created On the Town and made it a home for local musicians to perform and hang out, and to give everyone a chance to listen to the music of Boston. Sadly, Mikey Dee passed away in 2003, at the age of 40, leaving a hole in the music scene and in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Boston Marathon Relief Mixtape

Our friends over at Allston Pudding put together a 130 song mixtape featuring local New England acts as well as bands from across the country - with all the proceeds going to the One Fund - an organization set up to help the people most affected by the tragic events that occurred in Boston on April 15, 2013. For a donation of $1 or more, you will be able to download all 130 of these songs (or download any individual track you would like if you prefer).

You’ll find our track “Traitor, Traitor” from Brown Shark, Red Lion among a number of amazing other bands. We couldn’t be more proud to be a part of this community effort to provide help to those in need during this difficult time in our beloved city.

Under the Radar Magazine premiered “Gold Cures” today. We couldn’t be more proud to finally be sharing this with you. We’ll be releasing an extended iTunes single next week with two remixes!

If you’d like to cut through all the bullshit, you can stream “Gold Cures” and download it for free on our Sound Cloud.

For those of you who want to nerd out a bit on the H. H. Holmes backstory (every song on “Archfiend” is about or inspired by the story of Holmes) - “Gold Cures” is about a cure for alcoholism called the “Keeley Cure” that was developed by Leslie Keeley in the late 1800s and funded by one of Chicago’s most prominent businessmen (later to be known as the most notorious serial killer in US history) - HH Holmes.

Editor’s note - we’re self releasing “Archfiend” on our new label imprint called Retroversal.
